Our Firm

A team of 35 attorneys, Day Ketterer has a proud history of being one of the oldest and most respected law firms in the state of Ohio. Founded in 1872 by William R. Day, he made history as the United States Secretary of State under President William McKinley who negotiated peace with Spain and signed the Treaty of Paris to end the Spanish American War 1898. He then served as a justice for four years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and as an associate justice for 19 years on the Supreme Court of the U.S.

 

Regional Office Expansion Into Hudson & Cleveland Ohio

Day Ketterer Ltd. has been in the forefront advancing the legal profession from its Canton, Ohio location for the past 138 years. In 2009 Day Ketterer expanded regionally into Hudson and Cleveland.  At its ribbon cutting ceremony on March 17, 2009, Day Ketterer was welcomed to Hudson, Ohio by Mayor William A. Currin, City Manager Anthony J. Bales, Economic Development Director Chuck Wiedie and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Carolyn Konefal. Day Ketterer's new Hudson office at 5 East Main Street is located in the center of the city's historic district and is immediately adjacent to the Inn at Turner's Mill development.

Day Ketterer is also centrally located in downtown Cleveland at 600 Superior Avenue E., Suite 1300 in the Fifth Third Bank Building.

Day Ketterer is excited by the welcoming reception it has received from the Hudson community and looks forward to becoming one of its biggest assets in economic development initiatives. In addition to its commitment to professional excellence, Day Ketterer is also a strong advocate for community stewardship. As one of the leaders in the revitalization of downtown Canton, Ohio, Day Ketterer has been recently honored by the Downtown Canton Special Improvement District and ArtsinStark for its role in helping to implement a city-wide arts explosion campaign to promote economic development in Canton.

Estate Planning and Business Law attorney David G. Umbaugh, who joined Day Ketterer in 2008, will help expand the Firm's Hudson location to add new attorneys that will be fully supported by the resources and personnel from the Canton Office.

Securities/Finance attorney Paul N. Edwards, who joined Day Ketterer in 2009, will help lead growth initiatives for the Firm's Cleveland office, as well as provide counsel to clients throughout Northeast Ohio seeking traditional and non-traditional financing.

 

Our Commitment

A great deal has changed since the firm's founding in the 19th century, but Day Ketterer has remained a vital part of the legal community by embracing those changes.
