Die Broke by Stephen M. Pollan and Mark Levine - Copyright 1997

With this philosophy, you might ask who needs estate planning?  First, it is unlikely that the wealthiest among us, even if adopting this approach, would be successful in consuming all of their assets and dying broke.  Second, it is important to recognize that estate planning is the natural derivative of life planning.  Those people who may not have substantial estates probably still have substantial lives.  Estate planners have the knowledge and skills to offer counsel to them for their life plans.

The second part of the book discusses an alphabetical listing of 62 financial and life planning topics from “accountants to wills” relevant to applying the Die Broke philosophy.  While these topics are primarily treated in summary fashion, and a few are now outdated by changes in the law, these topics still serve as a useful checklist for planning purposes.  The authors integrate these various topics with their philosophy and encourage the reader to plan thoughtfully.
