Nine DK Attorneys Recognized on Ohio Super Lawyers 2010 List
Day Ketterer Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has nine attorneys from its Canton office that are being recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers magazine. Named among the top 5% of the lawyers in the state of Ohio for 2010 are litigation attorneys Trace Evans, Wayne Kyhos and John Murphy, and bankruptcy attorney Stuart Larsen. Also named in the magazine, as Ohio Rising Stars, are litigation attorneys Jude Belden Streb and Steven Shandor, business attorney Dan Clevenger, workers' compensation attorney Clint Zollinger, and estate planning attorney John Kaminski. Ohio Rising Stars includes only 2.5% of the state's attorneys who are under the age of 40, or who have 10 or less years of experience.
Evans, Kyhos and Murphy are being recognized for the second year in a row and are members of Day Ketterer's Litigation Practice Group with professional affiliation with the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys and the Defense Research Institute, Inc. Larsen chairs the Firm's Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring Practice Group and is affiliated with the National Association of Credit Management and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Evans has 26 years of commercial litigation experience and aggressively defends national insurance companies and international manufacturers on coverage issues, product liability claims and intentional torts. Working with utility companies, he has also defended several high profile electrical injury claims. In addition to his recognition by Super Lawyers magazine, Evans has also been selected to Best Lawyers® in the specialty of Insurance Law for the past three years. A graduate of the 7th class of Leadership Stark County, he is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.
Kyhos primarily defends personal injury claims, insurance matters and business-related disputes. He is a Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. Over the last 40 years, he has served many in many leadership roles for the Stark County Bar Association, including past president in 2007-2008. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from January, 1970 to November, 1973. He is a member of the Ohio and Georgia Bar Associations.
Murphy is chairman of the Firm's Litigation Practice Group and has 28 years of successful trial experience handling complex litigation matters in state and federal courts for clients in the insurance, banking, construction, and real estate industries. He is a frequent lecturer and author on legal topics such as: forensic accounting, product liability claims, real estate law, and errors and omission claims. As recognized by Best Lawyers® in the specialty of Insurance Law, he has had multiple Ohio Supreme Court appearances and countless reported decisions from the Courts of Appeal. John's leadership in the community is equally significant with over two decades of service on local boards and organizations to advance economic development and raise awareness about health care issues in Stark County. Currently he is a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
For over 15 years, Larsen has helped financial institutions, business owners, commercial landlords, unsecured creditors' committees and asset purchasers in Chapter 11 reorganization cases aggressively protect their rights. In addition to helping corporate clients minimize credit risks, Larsen also has extensive experience in handling commercial bankruptcy proceedings and complex commercial litigation matters in state, federal and appellate courts. He has lectured and written extensively on bankruptcy and commercial law topics especially as it relates to the steel, automotive, retail and real estate industries. Larsen is editor of the Cleveland Bar Association Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section's e-newsletter, the Northcoast e-Pipeline, and is a contributing editor to West Publishing's Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice on the topics of Appellate Practice and Involuntary Bankruptcy.
