Robert E. Roland Appointed To Ohio Special Commission

 Ohio CommissionAttorney Robert E. Roland is one of nine individuals throughout Ohio appointed to serve on the newly-formed Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration. Roland was nominated by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Dennis P. Saunier, and appointed by the Senate President, Bill Harris, R-Ashland. The Commission was formed in June and is charged with developing recommendations to bring about collaboration among local government offices in Ohio to increase the efficiency of government operations and to facilitate economic development.

A strong advocate for regionalization and a well-respected community leader, Roland has been in the forefront of promoting economic development in Northeast Ohio through joint collaboration of area Chambers of Commerce and the Stark Development Board. He commented, "I am honored to represent Canton on this important and timely commission and look forward to bringing my experience to bear on the State level to develop a systematic approach to collaboration for Ohio's 1,308 townships and 317 cities. This will save tax payer money and will allow Ohio to better compete with other states for new business."

Attorney John A. Murphy, Jr.. will represent Day Ketterer on the Board of Directors of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce beginning January 1, 2009. The Board unanimously voted in favor of John's position as Director for a three year term.
