Day Ketterer Awards Marlington Graduate with 2014 Business Excellence Award Scholarship

Day Ketterer is pleased to announce that Thomas A. Mason was recently award the 2014 Business Excellence Scholarship Award by Day Ketterer in conjunction with the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Scholarship was presented at the annual Business Excellence Award ceremony on May 6, 2014.2014 Business Excellence Scholarship Winner

Mason, a 2014 graduate of Marlington High School and son of Scott and Sheryl Mason of Alliance, submitted the winning essay titled, “The Impact of Business and Free Enterprise on the Continuing Success of the United States as Global Leader.” Submissions were open to all Stark County High School seniors and those currently enrolled at a Stark County University or College.

Following is an excerpt from Mason’s essay, “The answer lies with the strength of the American economy. From about 1880 to the present day the U.S. has been the world’s strongest economy. This economic dominance has allowed the U.S. to project power and win global conflicts, particularly as the “Arsenal of Democracy” in World War II.”… “In short, the global power of the United States is directly proportional to its economic might.”

Mason will attend The University of Mount Union in the fall where he has committed to play basketball. Among Mason’s other accomplishments, he was recently named Elk’s Teenager of the Year, was First Team All-NBC in both track and basketball, and maintained all A’s throughout high school.
