Day Ketterer Expands in the First Quarter with the Addition of Four New Attorneys, Adds Health Care Practice

Day Ketterer announces four new attorneys and the formation of its new Health Care Practice Group.

David E. Schweighoefer has joined Day Ketterer as a partner and will chair the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. Mr. Schweighoefer counsels health care clients on regulatory compliance, insurance contracting, governance, employment contracts, and acquisitions and mergers. He is experienced in Stark Law Compliance, durable medical equipment (DME) anti-kickback compliance, as well as HIPAA risk analysis and security breach protocols.

Mr. Schweighoefer has published numerous articles on health care law, policy, managed care, and reform. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Schweighoefer is an adjunct professor for Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he teaches courses in Fraud and Abuse, Health Care Law, Psychiatry and the Law, and HIPAA. Prior to practicing law, Schweighoefer served in behavioral health administration roles including, Regional Director at The Cleveland Clinic and Chief Operating Officer at Mount Sinai Health System. 

Schweighoefer is the co-founder of Emergency Medical Services Outreach Fund of Hudson and serves as the Vice Chair - Publications, at American Health Lawyers Association, Behavioral Medicine Task Force.

Colin G. Skinner has joined the Firm’s commercial litigation practice group. Colin has in-depth experience guiding his clients through complex commercial debt collection, foreclosure, equipment leasing, construction, real estate, sale of goods and other commercial disputes. Mr. Skinner has extensive experience defending asbestos claims on behalf of manufacturers and suppliers. His career successes display his ability to achieve client goals when faced with complex disputes. 

Prior to joining Day Ketterer, Skinner, a Hudson, Ohio resident, practiced with the law firm of Oby, Kramer, Skinner, LLC in Akron, Ohio.

Ann L. Wehener has joined the Firm and will practice in the areas of commercial law and real estate law. Ms. Wehener serves the needs of large institutions, small business and individuals, and has extensive experience dealing with creditors’ rights. 

An Akron, Ohio resident, Ms. Wehener serves as President, Commercial Real Estate Women Network (CREW) of Greater Akron, and as an Advisory Board Member at RunningDog. She practiced with Oby, Kramer, Skinner, LLC prior to joining Day Ketterer.

Brandon O. Trent has joined the firm as an associate attorney concentrating his practice on litigation and family law. Brandon previously practiced with Tzangas Plakas Mannos Ltd.

Mr. Trent is currently in the Leadership Stark County, Signature Program, 31st Class, serves on the Board of Directors for the Canton Palace Theatre, and is a member of the Stark County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Committee.
